CRADLE-TO-GRAVE

In a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) it is possible to assess the environmental impacts of a product or service from two perspectives: cradle-to-gate or cradle-to-grave.

Cradle-to-grave considers the entire life cycle of a product from raw material extraction (cradle) to the end of its life cycle, including product use, maintenance and disposal (grave) This is a more complete approach because it takes into account all phases of the life cycle, including the environmental impacts deriving from the use of the product and its management at the end of its life, aspects excluded from a cradle-to-gate perspective.
